D is for Dream
April 05, 2017
Good evening! Here's my hand-stamped art journal page for today's Blogging from A to Z Challenge featuring the letter D:
"The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen is one of my favourite fairy tales. While I like the Disney version, I still prefer Anderson's, thought it is darker and does not have a Disney-esque ending. Here I imagine the little mermaid dreaming of dancing with her beau (despite the feeling of a thousand knives stabbing her with each step!). The two images were stamped with black ink and coloured with Prismacolor pencils, and cut out using a round die. I glued Tim Holtz tissue paper onto the whole journal page, sprayed it with distress inks, and glued the images of the mermaid and the dancing couple at opposite corners. I used washi tape around the edges, which was difficult since I'd cut them in circles, but somehow I make it work! Then I stamped the word "DREAM" using my open alphabet by Stampa Barbara with black ink. I really like how this page turned, out even though it was a LOT of work! Enjoy! Cheers!
