Teaser Tuesday: The Red Pony by John Steinbeck
April 14, 2015
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
•Grab your current read.
•Open to a random page.
•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. (I tend to go over this limit a LOT!)
•BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
•Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Good morning, and happy Tuesday! This week I've been reading a book off my Classic Reading List: The Red Pony by John Steinbeck. I am really enjoying this book, as I have enjoyed all the Steinbeck novels I've read. I like how his books seem simple, but are really complex. His descriptions really put you in the scene, and he creates characters you like and you care about what happens to them. Here's my teasers from page 30:
For a long time after Billy went away, Jody stood beside the pony, stroking him behind the ears. The pony didn't flip his head the way he had done when he was well. The groaning in his breathing was becoming more hollow.
Oh, dear, the poor pony! I hope he gets well soon, or I will end up not liking this book very much! So, what are you all reading this week? Do you like and care about the characters? Are they in peril? Will they survive?
I hope you all enjoy whatever it is you're reading, and hope you all have a great week! Cheers!
