Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
•Grab your current read.
•Open to a random page.
•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. (I tend to go over this limit a LOT!)
•BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
•Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Good morning, and welcome to my first Teaser Tuesday post for 2015! This week I'm teasing one of my all-time favourite childhood reads: Bambi, A Life in the Woods by Felix Salten. While I'm not actually reading this book right now (I'm still reading The Curiosity which I teased a couple weeks ago), I was inspired to pick it up and just thumb through it while I was repairing my faux deer head and contemplating his name. Initially I considered naming him Bambi, but then I remembered that Bambi was a strong, feisty little thing that grew to become The Great Prince of the Forest (at least according to the Disney version). He would not end up a mounted head in someone's den (or, in this case, bedroom!), But, I remembered, there was a tragic little deer in the original book - Faline's brother Gobo - who could easily become wall decor. And, so I've named my little golden faux deer head Gobo.
Anyway, I digress. Here are my teasers from page 138:
Everyone was silent. The old stag looked at Gobo for a long time, piercingly and sadly.
"You poor thing!" he said softly at last, and turned and was gone.

My Monthly Resolutions posts are inspired by Kim. Check her out; she's pretty cool!
So, I've already made my resolutions for the entire year, but here are a few things I'm hoping to accomplish during the month of January:
1. Repair and mount my faux deer head. My lovely Antler Me This wall decor arrived with a broken antler. sob! After contacting the lovely folks at ModCloth, I was offered a generous discount on the item (since it isn't available anymore, they are unable to replace it, and I really, really want it!), and advised that superglue should work to repair it. A full post on the repair will be coming soon!
2. Work on some stamping. Valentine's Day is coming up, and what better holiday to revive my stamping/crafting/handmade card-giving? Just starting stamping again might help me begin to weed out the stamps I rarely use (thus opening up space for new stamps!), and get me started on my cleaning up resolution!
3. Work out with my trainer 7 days and on my own 8 additional days. Yes, I know that's only 15 days total in a month with 31 days, but I'd rather start small and work my way up, than overwhelm myself at the beginning of the year (as I have done in the past) and end up not doing anything (which I have also done).
4. Look for, and possibly start taking a yoga class. I really think the stretching associated with yoga will eventually help my stiffness, and while it will likely be a very painful endeavour - at least in the beginning - I hope I will improve, grow to love it, and become more flexible this year.
So, any little, mini resolutions you'd like to make just for January? Maybe you'd like to jump-start your fitness routine by trying a couple Zumba classes, or perhaps you'd like to prepare a vegetarian meal to improve your health or just step out of your cooking comfort zone. Let me know in the comments, and let's encourage one other to meet our goals! Thanks for reading! Cheers!
