Another BIG One!

Check out this ginormous zucchini that my mom found lurking in the garden yesterday:

I just harvested several huge squash this past weekend, and I don't know how I missed this! I mean, just look at the size of it compared to the measuring spoons! It's a monster!!! Thank God my mom found this one, or it might've gotten big enough to come through the kitched window!

Teaser Tuesday: Darkest Mercy by Melissa Marr

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
•Grab your current read

•Open to a random page

•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

•BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

•Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week I'm reading Darkest Mercy by Melissa Marr. This is the first book I'm reading off my new e-reader - a colour Nook I've named Nicky - and so far I'm really enjoying it. I love the nice compact size, particularly after reading a couple very large and difficult-to-carry hardcover books I borrowed from the library, but I still kinda miss turning "real" pages in a "real" book.

Anyway, here are my teasers from page 66:

After only a moment, he pulled away again. "You're killing me here, Ash."

"Good," she said.

Holy Zucchini Squash, Batman!!!

What a difference a week makes! The garden has exploded:

There are dozens of little green tomatoes on both tomato plants and hopefully we'll have some ripe ones very soon:

The pepper plants are doing okay and have a couple little peppers on each, but I don't know just how many ripe peppers we'll end up getting or how much longer the plants will continue to live.

But the squash ... oh, the squash!!!

There are several zucchinis and a lovely yellow squash! There's evidence of some squash that didn't make it, but I'm hopeful that eventually we'll get some more.

I admit I was surprised to see so many squash ready to harvest. I'd only noticed one tiny one last week, and all of a sudden I'm bringing in 3 zucchini and the one yellow squash.

I sliced and lightly steamed one of the larger zucchinis for dinner and it was SO good!

I can hardly wait to see what next week will bring!
