Twofer Teaser Tuesday: The Final Warning and Max by James Patterson

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

•Grab your current read
•Open to a random page
•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
•BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
•Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week I'm finishing up The Final Warning and staring Max, both by James Patterson. I have really enjoyed all the Maximum Ride books (I have Fang yet to read and Angel yet to buy, both of which I'm pretty excited about), though I must say that The Final Warning was just a bit too preachy for my taste (Stop Global Warming! Save the Planet! Blah, blah, blah!).  The action and adventure I have come to expect (and love!) from a Maximum Ride book seemed to take a back seat to the "Save the Environment" message that was shoved down my throat page after page, and really took away from the pleasure of reading it. So far, Max doesn't seem to be  as preachy, but the Save the Planet theme continues. Anyway, here are my teasers:

From The Final Warning, page 129:

If they really liked being here, really really liked it, would they still come with me when it was time to leave? Because no matter what happened here or how much they felt they were helping, we would still eventually have to leave. We always leave.

From Max, page 62:

"Should we pinpoint their location and destroy them?" the robot asked.

The team leader shook his head. "No. Just surveillance at this point."
