Teaser Tuesday: Who Really Killed Cock Robin by Jean Craighead George

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  1. Grab your current read

  2. Open to a random page

  3. Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

  4. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

  5. Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Today's Teaser comes from page 1 of Who Really Killed Cock Robin by Jean Craighouse George. I read this book waaaaayyy back when I was a kid and for some reason it really stuck with me, so I decided to reread it. I find it amazing that the ecological concerns affecting the characters in this book (originally published in 1971) are still concerns today. Apparently we as a society haven't learned much about protecting our environment and the animals and birds we share this planet with. We need to reuse and recycle more to reduce waste and stop using dangerous chemicals on our produce! Anyway, enough preaching, here's the teaser:

Cock Robin lay on his back with his feet in the air. A red breast feather twisted in teh wind, his clove-brown wings folder like a dancer's fan. It was seven minutes past six A.M. on the twenty-fourth day of May. He was dead.
