I haven't been out to see the garden for a couple of weeks - life has been crazy busy - so I was happy to be able to see the last few plants are still going strong!
We still have a ton of red and green bell peppers, although a few of them are getting cooked in this heat! Yes, it's still in the 90s here even though it's almost October! Very annoying!
I can't decide if I want to stuff these beautiful red peppers or roast them.
The Japanese eggplant is still producing some small eggplants as well. I know I planned to make eggplant parmesean, but I haven't done it yet. I guess I still have a chance!

So, here's all the books I bought and had autographed at the Writer's Conference:
I bought another Catherine Ryan Hyde book called The Day I Killed James, a murder mystery by local author Sue McGinty called Murder in Los Lobos, two books by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer (He was our Keynote Speaker; Jennifer wasn't there, so I only got his autograph on the books. I also purchased a set of 6 CDs of his previous speeches, which is not pictures.) Agnes and the Hitman and Don't Look Down, and two books by our favourite workshop instructor, Sally Warner, Only Emma and It's Only Temprary. Sally quickly became our favourite person of the whole Conference - I even switched out a class this afternoon to hers because I enjoyed her class so much last night! She's a great instructor has a fantastic sence of humour, and does the cutest little doodles with her autograph:

I just removed the post from September 16th with the link to the Obama Waffles - which I initially found amusing, because I must've been feeling a bit mean that day - because I decided I don't want to be "that way" during this election. Or ANY election. Or at any time during LIFE IN GENERAL, if I'm being honest. That's not who I am, or who I want to be.
That website wasn't funny; it was in poor taste and mean-spirited, and I don't want to be one of "Those People". I don't want to be the kind of person who makes fun of the other candidates or makes rude comments about the other candidates, or mocks other people because they choose to support Candidate A over Candidate B. Disagree with people, yes, but be an asshole about it? No. It's just not right. It's not nice. It's not Christian, and if nothing else, I'm really striving to be a better Christian right now more than anything else.
Besides, I'm sure the candidates themselves will be nasty enough towards each other, so we don't really need to get into the mix.
So to all my Obama-supporting friends and readers, I apologize for any offense that website might've caused. I don't support your candidate, but I do support your right to choose who you want to vote for for President of this country, and I will sincerely try to not to be an asshole anymore this election season.
I've been in the market for a new fragrance for fall, so before meeting Miss K. for the Pampered Chef party we attended early Friday evening, I spent some quality time in Sephora sampling various scents. I finally decided on Burberry The Beat and Burberry Brit, but couldn't decide between the two. I had one on my left wrist and the other on my right, but almost immediately forgot which was which. I wandered around Sephora for about 30 minutes letting each scent get warm on my skin, sniffing first one and then the other, and found I really quite liked both of them. So, I bought both.
So the release party for Brisingr never happened, but we didn't realize that until 10:50 Friday evening when they announced over the loudspeaker that Barnes and Nobel was closing. Before then Miss K., Miss S. and I were sitting in the cafe drinking Pumpkin Spice Lattes, eating Pumpkin cheese cake and sharing all the gossip. It was really fun! Still, if we'd known they weren't going to sell Brisingr at midnight, we would've spent more time browsing for books before they closed. As it was Miss S. found the 10th anniversary edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, so she and Miss K. bought that; I found what looks to be a good book called Graceling by a new author Kristin Cashore. I'm nearly finished with Eragon, and have Eldest waiting for me at the library, so it will be a while before I get to Graceling, but I decided to buy it anyway, because, dang it! I wanted to buy a book!!!.
In other news, my uncle from New York is visiting this week, and we had a mini-family reunion yesterday at my grandparent's house with my local aunt and uncle and their son and his girlfriend. We had a casual lunch of sandwiches, chips and dip, veggies and dessert. It was fun to just hang out and talk and watch football and enjoy each other's company, but exhausting, too.
There's more, but frankly I'm too tired to write much more. I still have to get through the next four hours of work, an hour at the gym with my trainer and try to watch Heroes and ... oh, who am I kidding? I'll tape Heroes and just go to bed! I just hope I don't collapse into a snoring heap before then!
