Well, I made it to Chicago. It's six a.m. and I am wide awake despite getting little sleep on the flight over. In a couple hours I will be boarding my final flight to Green Bay. Then? Let's get this party started!
Yes, I'm off on a wonderful whirlwind weekend to Green Bay, WI! The plans have been in the works for some time, but I've been so busy with work and the gym and various home improvement/repair projects that I've been too tired to write about it. Or much of anything else! Time has flown by so quickly lately that before I know it it's the weekend and everything that happened during the week is just old, boring news.
Anyway, after work today I did some quick shopping at Sephora then ran over to Marigold Nails (one of my favourite nail salons) and got a manicure. I went with the Chanel Black Satin that I bought last fall, and only ever used once before. So far I've only screwed up one nail!
Now I'm waiting at the SLO airport listening to a screaming child and subtly glaring at her parents who don't seem to give a crap about the comfort of the rest of us.
I am so looking forward to this weekend - have been for months! I need it despretly (crap I need spell check!). The last couple of months have been emotionally difficult for me though I don't really know why. I do feel much better this week and hopefully after "Rehab" (that's what we're calling this weekend) I'll be back to my old self again.
So, I get up this morning after sleeping very poorly last night (I'd heard or read something about sleeping with your head slightly elevated helps with breathing at night. Maybe so, but it's also extremely uncomfortable!) and go in the kitchen to make coffee. The coffee-making goes well, so I turn the appliance on and walk away. While applying my make-up in the bathroom, I hear a strange sound. Is the coffee maker hissing? Why is it making a hissing sound? I did put the pot on the burner ... didn't I?
Why, no. No I did not. So there is coffee and coffee grounds (The stupid cheap store-brand coffee filters have a nasty habit of folding in on themselves so the grounds run through into the pot.) all over the counter, dripping into the dishwasher and running onto the floor.
I spent only about five minutes mopping up the mess, as I just don't have all that much time in the morning, and when all was said and done, I only had about a half a cup of coffee to drink. Not a very good way to start the day. Hopefully it will get better!
Holy cow! Where were YOU hiding all this time???
My mom came across this beauty quite by accident when she noticed a bright red colour among all our dark green bell peppers. Isn't it gorgeous? It's going to be delicious roasted with a little olive oil drizzed on top. Yum!!
