30 Days of Creativity: Day 13
Week eight and our Earthbox garden is doing really well!!
The tomatoes are going like gangbusters and our little green tomato is getting bigger:
The peppers are still a little behind, but I'm hoping that the warmer weather will help them out. They both have buds on them, but no blossoms as yet:
The two squash plants are going amazingly well! There are two zucchinis (with blossoms, which I understand are edible, but I'm not sure I'm really brave enough to try them!), and one little yellow straightneck squash:
After checking out the garden, it was time to attack the overgrown backyard. All the plants we had put in last year are HUGE now, and really needed to be cut back. The grasses and cat mint were completely covering the stepping stone pathway, and the catmint was threatening to overtake my little Madrone tree:
While mom deadheaded the yellow flowers, I cut back the grasses and catmint that were covering the stones, removed three catmint plants that had grown up between the stones, then cut down some of the taller catmint surrounding the tree. When we were done, it all looked SO much better AND we won't be getting tripped up by the grasses and catmint anymore. We sat back on our patio and enjoyed our beautiful and peaceful backyard:
These marigolds we bought for the blue pot are doing amazingly well this year, too. I think they've been enjoying the wetter, cooler weather we've been having.
I don't expect them to do as well once it heats up this summer, so we're enjoying them while we can!
