This week I'm reading another book off my shelf, Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren. I'm on a roll! I think I only have two books left to complete this challenge. Anyway, here are my teasers (more than two, as usual I'm cheating!) from page 66:

This week I'm reading another book off my shelves: There Once Lived a Woman Who Tried to Kill Her neighbour's Baby - Scary Fairy Tales  by Ludmilla Petrushevskaya. And yes, that IS quite a mouthful of a title, but it caught my attention in the bookstore months and months ago, and now I'm finally getting around to reading this colleciton of short stories. And, you know what? They're really, really good! My teaser comes from page 98, which is in the middle of a story called "The Fountain House":

He let the paramedic go. After a brief negotiation with the doctor on duty, money changed hands, and the doctor admitted the girl to the intensive care unit.

This week I started reading Montana 1948 by Larry Watson. (An actual book this time, with paper and stuff, not off my e-reader, Nicky.) I bought this one during my last trip to the used book store along with a couple more Redwall books, before I bought Nicky, and I've been so enamoured with Nicky I haven't picked up any of my "real" books. However, I have several that I need to read and "get off the shelf", and this is one of them. I signed up for this year's Off The Shelf challenge and decided to start with this one. Here's my teaser from page 74: 

Then Frank took a sudden step toward my father. Frank's arms were spread wide, beseechingly, yet his movement was so quick it seemed threatening.

Yay, I am finally able to start reading Cinder by Marissa Meyer! I've been very excited for this book to be published ever since I first heard about it last year, and I pre-orderd it as soon as I was able. I've read everyone else's teasers for this book over the past few weeks, and am finally able to add my own. Enjoy my teaser from page 80 on Nicky the nook:

Welcome to my first Teaser Tuesday of 2012! This week I've started reading Bumped by Megan McCafferty, a book which will count towards my goal of reading 20 books for the 2012 YA Reading Challenge. My teaser comes from page 12 on Nicky the Nook:

2012 Reading Challenges #holidailies

Once again I have signed up for some Reading Challenges for the coming year. I'm hoping to keep it down to just a few so I don't get totally overwhelmed, so I've chosen the Off the Shelf challenge, 2012 Debut Author Challenge, and 2012 Young Adult Reading Challenge.

This week I'm reading The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa. I believe it's the final book in the Iron Fey series, but I'm not 100%  sure. I've enjoyed every book in this series, and this one is no exception! Here are my teasers from pag 30 on my nook:

Well, I tried to get into The Night Circus again after finishing Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (which is an AWESOME book, btw!), but I couldn't, so I dug a little deeper into Nicky (my nook) and found Allison Hewitt is Trapped by Madeleine Roux which I'd downloaded a while ago and thought I'd give it a shot. Yup, I'm back to zombies!! Enjoy this teaser from page 35:

We posit that there are two kinds of zombies; Groaners and Floaters. They're both dangerous, for obvious reasons, but they're actually quite different. Groaners are loud, they groan (duh) and moan and squeal as they come for you. They're faster, more determined more desperate. Floaters are arguably more dangerous because they're quiet, weirdly quiet, and they can sneak up on you.

Well, I gave up on The Night Circus - at least for now - and started Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, which I'm really enjoying. Not that I wasn't enjoying The Night Circus, but it was awfully convoluted with all the going back and forth in time and adding new characters and the little vignettes of performers ... well, it was just getting too much for me to concentrate on. I can kinda see why a lot of people simply didn't like it. Anyway, on to the Peculiar Children and this week's teaser:

But the strangest photo was the last one. It was the back of somebody's head, with a face painted on it.

 This week I've started reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I've read some reviews from people who LOVED it and others from people who HATED it, so I guess I'm in for quite a ride! So far, in my opinion, it's quite good - mysterious and magical. And so different from what I've been reading lately, which has been full of creepiness and gore, that it's quite refreshing! But, who knows? It might change in an instant! Lord knows, it starts out distressing enough! Check out this one long teaser sentence (from page 14 of the nook version):

The man billed as Prospero the Enchanter receives a fair amount of correspondence via the theater office, but this is the first envelope addressed to him that contains a suicide note, and it is also the first to arrive carefully pinned ot the coat of a five-year-old girl.
