Recently I came across a blog promoting a delightful idea: ReReadathon, a whole month dedicated to reading previously read books. Now, I thought this was a great idea because I have SO many books I've read and loved over the years that I've often longed to revisit, but with Nicky the nook filling up quickly with new novels that I'm looking forward to reading, it's been difficult to find the time to dedicdate to rereading.
But, that's exactly what I'm going to do over the month of July! The problem has been deciding exactly what books to reread. I have dozens! I was browsing my bookshelves last night desately trying to decide what to revisit. Island of the Blue Dolphins? firstname.lastname@example.org? Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Bambi? Sadar's Keep? In the Garden of Iden? The Ghost Belonged to Me? It was slightly overwhelming! In the end I pulled The Little Prince off the shelf and chose that as my first reread. The rest of my (hopeful) list is as follows:
- Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell (A childhood favourite!)
- Replay by Ken Grimwood (I've wanted to reread this one for ages!)
- Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach (Purchased at the hostpital gift shop in 1981 when my dad was dying from cancer - about this time of the year, in fact - and I tend to pick it up periodically)
I might chose to reread a few more, but that's my "for sure" list right now. Interested in rereading some old favourites? Go for it! Follow the like above, and see if you'd like to join us! July is waiting!
