Today was the fourth leg of the AMGEN Tour of California bike race, and the finish line was downtown SLO. Unlike the past couple years when it was sunny and nice, this year it is cold and wet. I kinda got to see the end of the race, as the bikers were slowed down by the bad weather and arrived around 5:20 instead of the expected 3:00 - 3:30. Since I didn't have my trainer tonight, I figured I could take the Local instead of the Express and be a little later, but as it turned out the bus arrived later than usual due to the heavy traffic and closed roads, so I caught it anyway.
I didn't have a good view of the finish line, as you can see by the previous photo, but it was thrilling to just be there and listen to the uber-excited announcers over the loud speakers call the last three miles, and experience the exhiliration of the soggy spectators as they cheered and rang their cowbells as the riders made the final corner and whipped across the finish line. I snapped a few pictures at the finish, but I'm sure I didn't get the winner at all, but hopefully I was able to capture some of the exitement of the moment.
